COURSE OUTLINE:


ASSIGNMENTS:
PROJECT #1- Value and Drapery
Students will use drawing pencils or pencil crayon to create beautiful, lush draperies. This project will be worked in large scale.


PROJECT #2- Inner-Self Portrait
Students using a variety of media (including chalk and or oil pastel) will create a visual image of who they are on the inside. Students will employ symbolism in a collage like image to express who they are and what is important to them without using words.

Students using a variety of media (including chalk and or oil pastel) will create a visual image of who they are on the inside. Students will employ symbolism in a collage like image to express who they are and what is important to them without using words.

PROJECT #3- Self-Portrait on Canvas
Students will study the human body and proper proportions and draw their self-portrait. In this multi-media assignment students can choose between acrylic and oil paint. Also in their project students may include collage, drawing, ink, etc.

PROJECT #4- Pen and Ink Architectural Drawing
Students will use pen and ink to make a replica of an architectural structure. Size will vary image choice.

PROJECT #5- Watercolour Techniques
Students will choose a watercolour technique and explore its possibilities. 
Subject matter will be left open to the students and a project proposal
will be required.

PROJECT #6- Furniture Manipulation 
Students will bring in an old piece of furniture from home or thrift store to transform into an artist study. While completing the project, students will be required to submit a written report on the artist they have chosen.

PROJECT #7- Clay Projects 
Students will have the opportunity to have an open project. Students can choose from tile making, pinch pot, coil, slab, wheel or hand building.

PROJECT #8- Open Project 
Students will choose their final project and an art proposal will be required before commencing the project.
