The Arts and Culture Club is organizing an 8-day tour of Italy with EF Tours. The tour is fast paced and covers major attractions in Florence, Rome and Venice. The program fee includes round-trip airfare, ground transportation, hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, sightseeing tours led by licensed local guides and entrance to special attractions. Students are only expected to buy their own lunches.
This trip is a great educational opportunity for students to develop independence and citizenship in different cultures, as well as develop personal and social responsibility. Students will also be able to get a concrete visual of the history of Italy and its amazing heritage. Start by visiting Venice and travelling to Florence to relive the Renaissance where it began. Then journey into the heart of the Roman Empire and come face-to-face with the Colosseum in Rome and Vatican City.
History comes to life on your sightseeing tour of Rome. You’ll walk through the Colosseum, the world’s most famous arena. Its elaborate construction spanned two emperors – building began under the rule of Vespasian and was completed under the rule of Titus. Here, you can almost hear the stamping feet of the crowds gathered for gladiatorial combat. Nearby, the ruins of the Roman Forum mark the former heart of the Roman Empire, where Julius Caesar gave many of his great political speeches. Before you say “arrivederci,” toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain to ensure a return trip to the Eternal City.
École Salish Secondary Fine Arts and English department’s Arts and Culture Club believe that this trip will provide students with an incredible learning experience of history and contemporary culture outside of the classroom. I know I am really looking forward to this wonderful experience.
***Students need to see Ms. Trujillo (RM 112) to pick up a registration request form for parents/guardians to sign. Registration information will be send out once approval has been given by the Superintendents Office at the Surrey School Board.
